News: Steve Rifkind Resurrects Loud Records



Yesterday evening, we got word that Asher Roth signed to Def Jam Records. Since the beginning of his career, he been inked to Steve Rifkind’s label, SRC.
This morning, Steve explained via his Twitter account that Ash’s new situation is part of a joint venture between Def Jam and his defunct imprint, Loud. Back in the 90s, Loud were pioneers in street promotions and signed acts like Mobb Deep, Wu-Tang Clan and Big Pun. Time to carry on tradition.

Video: Private Funeral Service for Heavy D (Family, Friends and Fans Say Goodbye)



During the service, Rev. Al Sharpton called Heavy’s daughter Xea Myers to the podium to read a written message from President Obama.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences at this difficult time,” the note from Obama read. “He will be remembered for his infectious optimism and many contributions to American music. Please know that you and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.”
Those who said their goodbyes included Diddy, Jay-Z, Queen Latifah, Will Smith, Mary J. Blige, Usher, Denzel Washington and more.
